What does pineapple do for men?
There’s no denying that pineapple is incredibly healthy food. But what makes it such a great food choice for men is that it’s a source of a surprising number of the nutrients essential to men’s wellness. Some benefit general health while others are specific to men’s sexual health and fertility. I’ve broken it down by the benefits but first, let’s get to know the nutrients that make pineapple a health food.

Here’s a breakdown of the nutrients in this delicious tropical fruit that help contribute to men’s sexual health and overall well-being.
A 1-cup serving of raw pineapple contains:
- 2.3g fiber
- .9g protein
- 78.9mg vitamin C
- .1mg thiamin
- 29.7mcg folate
- .8mg niacin
- .5mg iron
- .2mg zinc

- 1.5mg manganese
Pineapple benefits for men (general health)
Here are some of the best ways the nutrition in pineapple can support men’s overall health and wellness:
Immunity boosting
One of the best-known fresh pineapple benefits is that the fruit is a source many immunity-boosting nutrients as well as some known for reducing inflammation, including vitamin C. The vitamin is not only well-known as an immunity booster but it is even clinically linked with preventing and treating infections.
In addition, an enzyme found in pineapple called bromelain is believed to be anti-inflammatory and anti-viral. Unfortunately, the curative potential of bromelain is not fully understood. But there is substantial evidence that this enzyme has powerful immunity-boosting properties.
Anti-aging
And vitamin C is not the only powerful antioxidant found in pineapple. The fruit is also noted as a source of flavonoids and phenolic acids. These antioxidants fight free radicals in our bodies. Although we usually connect antioxidants with anti-aging and associate high-antioxidant foods with women and beauty, antioxidants are important to men, too! They not only help fight visible signs of aging and promote skin health but can help promote a healthy immune system and are even linked with the prevention of some age-related diseases.
Hydrating
Pineapple is also recognized as a source of water for hydration and natural sugars for energy. And pineapple contains magnesium and potassium, both of which are nutrients that can help keep your hydration in balance.
A potential weight loss aid
A healthy, sweet snack, pineapple helps sustain stamina and is noted as a weight loss aid as well as a good food for weight control. This might be because pineapple is rich in fiber. And fiber is recognized for helping you feel full longer. A serving of raw pineapple offers about 2.3 grams of fiber.
The sexual benefits of pineapple for men
Now that we understand how pineapple can benefit a man’s overall health and wellness, let’s take a closer look at what it can do for a man’s sex life. There are several nutrients in a pineapple linked with men’s sexual performance. Some of the most notable effects of pineapple on men’s sexual health include:
- Increase libido
- Improve sexual stamina
- Promote testosterone production
- Diminish issues associated with erectile dysfunction
- Improve semen and sperm quality
Nutrients for better sex
But how can a tropical fruit improve sexual health in so many ways? That’s because pineapple is a good source of a few key nutrients men need to keep their libido and sexual health in balance. These nutrients include:
-
- Manganese
The most notable nutrient in pineapple with a link to men’s sexual health is manganese. And pineapple is an excellent source of manganese. In fact, one cup of raw pineapple gives you about 76% of your daily manganese intake.
This essential mineral is known for improving sexual strength. And it is proven to elevate testosterone levels, which makes it particularly beneficial to a man’s sex drive and sexual performance. According to Nature’s Aphrodisiacs, in lab studies manganese deficiency in male subjects caused a loss of sex drive and a lack of semen.
-
- Bromelain
As I mentioned earlier, the bromelain in pineapple is good for immunity. But it is incredibly beneficial to men’s sexual health because the enzyme has been shown to aid in triggering the production of testosterone.
-
- Vitamin C
This vitamin is not only good for your immune system, in clinical studies, this vitamin also shows benefits in helping men maintain sexual arousal by helping to improve blood flow. (This is why vitamin C-rich foods like pineapple make the list of foods that help fight erectile dysfunction.)
-
- Thiamin
The B vitamin thiamin found in pineapple is known to boost energy and sex drive. Some experts even suggest that its energy-boosting properties will increase sexual stamina. I can’t find any clinical trials to back the sexual stamina claim but this is one theory you could easily test for yourself.
Thiamin is also linked with improved mood. In one 1997 clinical trial, subjects taking 50mg of thiamin daily reported being more clear-headed, composed and energetic. And being in a good mood is essential to getting in the mood.
Nutrition for sperm health
The fruit is also recognized for improving sperm count. And that may simply be because pineapple provides hydration. Water is a key to healthy sperm and, as I mentioned earlier, pineapple is packed with water.
However, I should add that this tropical fruit also contains many nutrients necessary for healthy sperm production. These include the aforementioned manganese, vitamin C and thiamin. Other nutrients in pineapple linked with male fertility include folate, copper and zinc.
Consult a physician before using pineapple to improve fertility.
Can pineapple juice benefit male health, too?
Pineapple juice is more accessible for most of us than fresh pineapple. So you might be wondering whether you can get the same benefits from pineapple juice as you can from the flesh of the fruit. (And you might also have heard some other rumors specific to pineapple juice but I’ll get to that later.)
If you’re wondering, “Is pineapple juice good for you?” The answer is yes, but…while the nutrition in pineapple juice is linked to many of the same benefits as fresh pineapple, this juice does have a lot of sugar. A cup of pineapple juice has around 25g of sugar, while the same amount of fresh pineapple chunks has around 16g.
However, the juice is still rich in antioxidants, bromelain, potassium and manganese just like fresh pineapple fruit. But if you want to get the benefits of eating pineapple and are considering getting them from pineapple juice, you’ll want to watch your overall sugar intake in your diet and possibly consider cutting out some other sugary foods.

How does pineapple juice benefit men sexually?
Like most fruit juices, pineapple juice has too much sugar to be compared nutritionally to the benefits of fresh pineapple. But you may have heard of a fabled use for pineapple juice when it comes to men and the sexual partners who pleasure them orally.
It turns out, it’s true, at least if folklore is to be believed. According to accounts by women whose partners drink pineapple juice, the drink changes the flavor of semen. In fact, some nutritional experts suggest that a man should drink 8 ounces of pineapple juice several hours before this sexual act to make semen taste sweeter.
However, no prior planning is needed if you want to enjoy all the effects of eating fresh pineapple! Men should just eat it frequently to experience pineapple’s sex benefits.
Discover why pineapple is an aphrodisiac for both men and women
If you want to enjoy the benefits of pineapple sexually, please discuss dietary changes with your physician. Overindulging in pineapple can result in mouth sores, abdominal pain and indigestion.
Selecting, storing and cooking
To select a fresh pineapple at the market, look for a fruit with healthy green leaves. Ripe pineapple is often a golden color but a pineapple with a greenish hue can actually be ripe, too. A ripe pineapple should give ever so slightly when you squeeze it. And it should give off a sweet smell near its base.
Fresh, cut pineapple should be stored in the refrigerator in an air-tight container. Toss a few chunks into the blender with a ripe banana, a peeled, whole tangerine and a few pieces of frozen mango to make a sex-boosting, pure fruit smoothie.
The raw fruit also makes a perfect snack. But here are a few more creative ways to enjoy the benefits of pineapple:
