Nice cream is the healthy, modern frozen treat that became a blender craze about 10 years ago. Luckily, the trend stuck and nice cream is now a popular figure and health-friendly alternative to soft-serve you can make at home with just a blender or food processor.
Nice cream is a natural, dairy-free treat made from additive-free ingredients, thus the “nice” name. But this mango nice cream recipe from The Glowing Fridge isn’t meant to be a mango ice cream alternative. It is meant to be served as a sexy breakfast or, if you prefer, as a breakfast dessert.
The health benefits of this vegan nice cream
What we love about this recipe is that it features one of our favorite aphrodisiac ingredients, mango. Mango is a food historically linked with sex. But it also happens to have several nutrients beneficial to your libido, like vitamins A and C and manganese.
Nice cream also features aphrodisiac banana. Banana is the secret to great nice cream recipes. In fact you can just make a straight banana nice cream. But you must make sure to have good and ripe bananas. (And don’t forget that you need to use frozen bananas for this blender recipe, so be sure to plan ahead.) This is what gives the dish sweetness as well as the smooth and creamy texture.
Since we’re talking about the nutrition in this vegan breakfast treat, we need to point out that nice cream is fairly high in sugar and lacking in protein. If you’re looking for a higher protein breakfast option, you can experiment with adding plant protein from something like flax meal. But it will change the flavor of your nice cream slightly. (Or you can just save this sweet, frozen treat recipe to serve as a snack or dessert.) Whatever you decide, we know you’ll enjoy this plant-based breakfast treat. All you need is good blender and someone to snuggle.
Morning Mango Nice Cream
- 1 mango peeled and pitted
- 2 frozen (very) ripe bananas
- splash coconut milk
- blueberries for garnish
- Add the mango, bananas and coconut milk to a blender and blend on medium-high until smooth. (Add up to a Tbsp of additional coconut milk if needed.)
- Divide Nice Cream into two bowls and top with a garnish of blueberries (or your favorite berry). Serve immediately.
