A Cranberry Daiquiri Recipe with Chocolate Bitters and Cranberry Puree
This cranberry daiquiri recipe is about to become your go-to for those chilly days when you want something decadent – and different!
The tart flavors of cranberry and hint of chocolate make this winter cocktail a terrific pick-me-up on those days lacking in sunshine. Of course, this recipe also works for a girl’s glamping retreat or a romantic escape any time of the year.
Using cranberry puree to flavor this cocktail
Mixologist Manny Hinojosa created the recipe to showcase the unique flavor of The Perfect Puree’s cranberry puree. (It’s a wonderful product, by the way, with many uses in sweet and savory cooking.) Unlike cranberry juice, this puree offers the intensity of the pure fruit in a way that’s reminiscent of cranberry sauce.

The puree is surprisingly different but perfect for cocktails like this one. I love that he added a dash of aphrodisiac chocolate bitters for complexity and decadent aromatics. A daiquiri really doesn’t get more unique than this.
What is the best rum for daiquiris?
A traditional daiquiri is typically made with a white rum that helps accentuate the cocktail’s refreshing quality. Of course, you can use different rums to give the drink a different body.
TO TRY: A daiquiri made with aged rum
The most important thing in choosing a rum for your daiquiri recipe is to find a spirit that matches the body without overpowering the fruit flavors, (or in this case, the fruit and chocolate flavors).
Hinojosa, a Bacardi brand ambassador, makes this cranberry and chocolate daiquiri recipe with Bacardi’s 1909. In fact, he even named the drink the 1909 Daiquiri to emphasize his choice of rum for the daiquiri. If you’ve never tried 1909, it’s a limited edition white rum based on Bacardi’s original blend, Bacardi Superior. But you can always use your favorite white rum in the recipe.

A winter daiquiri for a romantic evening
What matters most is to find the flavors that will help keep you warm this winter. And with this cocktail’s love-red color and sexy blend of flavors, it might do more than just warm you up when sipped with someone who makes your heart flutter.
Since both chocolate and cranberry have noted aphrodisiac properties, (as does alcohol, of course), remember this drink recipe when you’re planning your next romantic evening for two!
