The Aphrodisiac – a Pomegranate Vodka Cocktail
A pomegranate martini for romantic occasions
I created this pomegranate vodka cocktail for lovers as a part of an entire Greek-inspired menu for date night, Valentine’s Day or your favorite romantic occasion. The dinner is dedicated to the Greek God of Love. And it obviously needs a cocktail worthy of Eros. I can’t call this a traditional, Greek cocktail, but it is my Greek-inspired drink!
This crimson-red, sexy cocktail is built around the flavor of pomegranate. And pomegranate is one of the world’s most legendary aphrodisiacs. Here are some details on the aphrodisiac history of pomegranate.
What kind of vodka should you use?
The base of the cocktail is a combination of traditional vodka and pomegranate vodka. I suggest that you use your favorite brand. The drink is fairly bold in flavor and prepared in a shaker so it doesn’t require a high-end choice. Something neutral and moderately priced will work.
The pomegranate vodka, on the other hand, is a spirit you’ll want to choose a little more carefully. If you’re unfamiliar with pomegranate vodka, some brands that I think work well for this pomegranate cocktail recipe are Pearl, which is available for delivery from Drizly, as well as Charbay and Van Gogh.
How to pair this pomegranate vodka cocktail with food
Just keep in mind that this pomegranate cocktail recipe is a vodka-based drink and one that goes down very easily. Although they are aphrodisiac cocktails, too many of these drinks could inhibit performance in the bedroom if you know what I mean.
I recommend enjoying it with food. This cocktail for lovers is only one part of a multi-dish, aphrodisiac experience. I like to serve these pomegranate juice martinis throughout the meal but I particularly like pairing this cocktail with my traditional hummus recipe.
