When coffee time meets cocktail hour
Coffee is among our favorite aphrodisiacs and when we learned that August is Coffee Month we thought nothing could be better to celebrate this aphrodisiac month thank a cold, invigorating coffee cocktail. This recipe comes to us from Alie Ward and Georgia Hardstark, also known as the Cooking Channel’s Alie & Georgia.
We love that it blends coffee with bitter, sweet flavor of amaro. Amaros are Italian liqueurs made from a combination of herbs. They’re often blended with citrus and a kiss of sugar in a neutral spirit. We think layering the caffeine and dark, earthy flavor of espresso with the herbal and sweet notes of the amaro raises the aphrodisiac bar. If you love coffee and you love cocktails, how can you resist it?
- 1 1/2 oz rye or bourbon
- 3/4 oz amaro
- 1/2 oz espresso the ladies like to use Nespresso
- Add the first three ingredients to a tall glass or shaker. Add ice.
- Stir with a long spoon and strain into a martini glass.
- Garnish with a Luxardo cherry.
