I Found the Sexiest Hotel in New Orleans
I love going to New Orleans. And, as I always counsel my friends, when your kids go to college, make sure they go somewhere you want to visit…a lot. My daughter goes to Tulane University so I got lucky in that draw of the cards.
As a writer, I am continually being introduced to the hottest, trendiest and most cutting-edge “in” restaurants and hotels that make up the exciting renaissance of The Big Easy. This is a sexy town so I expect the hot, new places to have a sexy edge. But this time, I may have found the Sexiest hotel in New Orleans. Mind you, I cannot do trendy without luxury and comfort and the Cambria New Orleans hotel hits all the marks for being on-trend, luxurious and oozing sensuality.
What makes this Big Easy hotel sexy?
The Cambria is a boutique hotel. The intimacy you feel the moment you walk in the door telegraphs the notion that this place has romantic possibilities. The hotel’s public areas are comfortable yet scream Cajun. Crowned skull renderings adorn all of the furniture. Neon indicates you are somewhere exciting and sculpture reflects the music and traditions of the area. Check out the hundreds of strands of beads hanging from the ceiling in the lobby and restaurant. It may not have cozy corners for sneaking a romantic kiss but then, in New Orleans, it’s perfectly acceptable to put your affections on display in public.
On the way to my romantically low-lit, cushy room, I came across probably the most friendly and dedicated staff ever to work a hotel front desk. Helpful, outgoing–they remembered me as I came and went. They almost made me feel like a local celebrity.
My room of sleek black, white and grey tones featured one of the most comfortable, pillow-top mattresses I have ever experienced as I melted into a mountain of down and feather-stuffed pillows. It is a perfect bed for a romantic encounter.
In the bath, I found ultra-lux Acca Kappa amenities. The bathroom is otherwise more functional than sensual. But then, bathroom foreplay isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
You may be lucky enough to come to the Cambria purely for romance but I had to fit in some work time on my trip. While enveloping me with luxury, my Cambria Hotel room was very workable. It was outfitted with a table and chairs as well as a chaise lounge with a moveable desk that I found the best way to write (and watch TV) at the same time.
Location
Located in the now emerging warehouse district, The Cambria was close to everything. I walked to lunch at Mother’s Restaurant, hit the world-class Audubon Aquarium of the Americas and strolled the French Quarter and got back in time for the incredible happy hour at the new location of the original Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. If staying in is more your style, the breakfast and dinner restaurant at The Cambria serves Southern room service fare like shrimp and grits and a delicious flatiron steak.
Book your stay
The Cambria New Orleans hotel is part of the premium end of Choice Hotels and their aggressive rewards program. A fabulous choice for slipping away to some place sensual in New Orleans and I can’t wait to get back. I plan on earning more stays in the future!
