If you’re a lover of wine, you might want to get yourself to Bordeaux this spring. The weekend of the Grands Crus of Bordeaux is coming up in May. This is an annual wine tasting event on the international wine world’s calendar. But what makes the event remarkable is that this year, the normally pros-only tasting is open to the public.
On May 20-21, wine lovers from around the world will have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to taste two different vintages of unforgettable Bordeaux wines. Over 110 Chateaux are slated to pour. The festivities also include special Grands Cru dinners in the chateaux of such prestigious wineries as Les Carmes Haut-Brion and Chateau Smith Haut Lafite. The ticket price for each private dinner is 140 euros per person. In addition, vineyard tours and lunches are scheduled at more modest 99 euros per person. Lastly, one of the most fun sounding events of the weekend includes a tour of the Cité du Vin and a Grand Cru riverboat lunch (90 euros).
The weekend celebration is put on by the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux in the city of Bordeaux. For more information and to make your reservations, visit the Union’s website. (And hurry, we noticed that events are starting to sell out!)
