There is a strong link between Bordeaux and the California Wine Country. And when you’re friend is hurting, you do all that you can to heal the pain. That’s why the Union des Grand Crus de Bordeaux has put together a 75 lot online Bordeaux wine auction to raise money for their sister wine regions, so badly hurt by wildfires in October.
The auction, run by Sotheby’s, is going through January 30, 2018. Proceeds will benefit the Napa Valley Community Foundation and the Community Foundation of Sonoma County. Anyone can register to bid and bids begin at $50.
What’s on offer? Frankly, the generosity of these auction lots is awe inspiring. Primarily comprised of large-format bottles, the wines in this auction lineup are among the greats. Personally, I have my eye on the 2009 double magnum of dessert wine from Chateau de Fargues. But perhaps a Domaine de Chevalier Rouge is more your style. (Lot #29 is a 6-liter bottle from the 2010 vintage.) For the high rollers, there’s a Chateau Figeac, a 6 liter Lynch Bages, a Cheval Blanc and even a 6 liter bottle of Chateau d’Yquem.
The auction ends at 12pm EST on January 30, so start planning your bidding. It’s all for a great cause! You can register to bid on the Sotheby’s website.
