Its been a rough week for us here at Eat Something Sexy and sometimes there’s just no way to end the week better than a shot of vodka. But we’d never just throw it back straight from the bottle. Instead we’re enjoying aphrodisiac foods chef Diane Brown’s palate cleansing version of a vodka lemon shooter.

Chef Diane Brown's version of a lemon drop shooter made with the aromatic aphrodisiac of lavender.
Course: cocktails
Dish Type: Cocktail
Ingredient: vodka
Servings: 2 shots

  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon dried lavender
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon zest
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/4 ounces vodka
  • 3/4 ounces fresh lemon juice
  • sugar to rim shot glass
  1. In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil.
  2. Add sugar, lavender and zest, and dissolve sugar into the water.
  3. Cool completely, and strain into a squeeze bottle. Chill and store for up to 7 days.
  4. Pour vodka, lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of lavender syrup into a shaker with ice.
  5. Shake well and strain into two sugar-rimmed shot glasses.

    Ok, this has to be a sign! I purchased a few days ago from our local market dried lavender and was going to use it in a recipe for shortbread cookies but I think the lavender lemon shooter trumps lavender shortbread! Yum!
