About the Rogue Valley wine country

The Rogue Valley is Oregon’s southernmost wine region, running along the boarder with California.

Despite the fact that you’ve never heard of it, the Rogue Valley has a rich winemaking history, dating back to the 1840s. In fact, Oregon’s first winery, Valley View, is in the Rogue Valley.

However, the region didn’t become an official American appellation until 2001.

Today, the west side of the region, which is influenced by coastal weather, specializes in cool climate grapes including Pinot Noir. But on the east side, where the weather is warmer, wineries produce Cabernets, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc.
