An annual celebration of food and wine in Cape May

Celebrate Food and Wine in Cape May

Cape May goes gourmet

How does Indian Summer on the Jersey Shore sound? Well, this festival of food and wine in Cape May certainly makes us long for crisp but sunny afternoons by the beach! And what could be more romantic than a post-summer getaway to a historic Cape May inn or b&b?

From September 14-23, 2018, Cape May will host its 22nd annual Food and Wine Celebration. Since the event is held in what’s known as one of the East Coast’s best beach cities for food, we know the festival is going to be a good one.

Event highlights

This year’s festival, hosted by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts and Humanities (MAC), promises to showcase the best of the region’s chefs. And it promises to introduce guests to Mid-Atlantic wineries and breweries. Highlights are to include something called the Chef’s Dine-Around and a Chocolate Lover’s Feast at the Blue Rose Inn on September 22. (Don’t miss that one!) Cape May Winery will also host a wine blending event on Friday, September 21. If you’ve never blended your own wine, this is your chance to play winemaker for a day. For those with more athletic aspirations, there’s even a dinner that includes a full moon “climb” on September 23. (Guests are served a tasting menu at the Red Store then taken by trolley to the Cape May Lighthouse, where they’re afforded the opportunity to an exclusive, nighttime climb to the top.)

For those not up for a full meal, the Gourmet Marketplace on September 19 might be just the thing. This gathering of chefs and tastemakers promises sampling galore . And there’s even a Chowder Competition–where you get to sample and be part of the vote!
