Beach Plum Gin Liqueur from Greenhook Ginsmiths

What is Beach Plum Gin Liqueur?

You may never have heard of beach plum before. And you might be wondering what it’s doing in gin! But we promise you, after one taste of this beach plum gin liqueur, you won’t be asking any questions except, “Can I have some more?!”

Greenhook Ginsmiths Beach Plum Gin Liqueur is one of our new favorite elixirs. (The flavoring and deep, almost claret color come from beach plums. These tiny, maritime fruits are members of the plum family. They’re commonly found on the eastern seaboard of the United States, from Maine to Maryland.) Greenhook Ginsmiths have taken the essence of beach plum and used it as the vehicle for one of the most unique, most fun gins you’ll ever find.

beach plum gin liqueurYou might be asking yourself, “What is a beach plum?” The answer is simple, it’s a member of the plum family native to coastal regions in the north eastern United States. The fruit is tiny compared with most varieties of plums. It also lacks sugar and offers a sour flavor. But it is great for making syrups and jams.

A rosy-hued drink, the beach plum gin liqueur is crafted from the company’s Signature American Dry Gin with the fruit for seven months, with just a hint of additional sugar. (Beach plums are not particularly sweet fruits.)

How does it taste?

The result is as smooth as Greenhook Ginsmiths’ original gin but with a round, mouth-filling fruitiness. Although there is a hint of sweetness, it is crisp and clean, not cloying. We like the Beach Plum Gin Liqueur on the rocks for summer but it also works served neat. Our Annette Tomei even pours it over her plum sorbet for an unforgettable palate cleanser. As for cocktails, the Greenhook Ginsmiths’ website can suggest a few!
