About the wines

• The red blend

The wines include a Bordeaux red blend with a velvety texture. Made from a blend of sustainably farmed Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, it is an easy-drinking red with subtle black fruit flavors and a hint of vanilla on the finish. Those who appreciate the wines of Bordeaux will be interested to note that the appellation is Haut-Medoc Cru Bourgeois.

• The Sauvignon Blanc

The white featured in this wine sampling kit is a Sauvignon Blanc from the Côtes de Gascogne in southwest France. The simplest and most refreshing of the three wine tastings, it makes a great starter for your evening with lemon and light tropical flavors. This wine would make a welcome addition to a simple and elegant aphrodisiac dish like this Marinated, Grilled Bison.

• The rosé

The rosé, which is the most romantic of the three, offers a gorgeous, peachy-pink color in the glass. A blend of Syrah and Grenache made with organic grapes, it is a very romantic wine with an orange blossom aroma and citrus and strawberry flavors. Serve it with a seafood dish like my Steamed Mussels in Tarragon Broth.
