man with a pan

We’ve found our perfect summer read. Putting an endearing twist on the food bio category, Man With a Pan celebrates family, home, food and, most especially, fathers.

The book, edited by famed New Yorker cartoonist and author John Donohue, (yes, the book is peppered with Donohue’s quirky sketches), features an A-list of writers and culinary personalities sharing essays on their experiences as fathers feeding a family. From Stephen King’s “Pretty Good Cake” to Mario Batali’s Linguine, Man with a Pan offers 60 recipes, its focus is not so much cooking, but the effect of food on family (and family on food!) It is charming, well written and just our kind of beach book. (We have, by the way, tried a few of the recipes and everything, so far, has received a thumbs up–from the whole family.)
