This wine plays a little hard to get, (if only the winery could produce more!) But if you spot a bottle, buy it. Smokey yet sweet, it is silky on the tongue and surprisingly elegant.

I have an extreme fondness for this wine. As a child, I loved white wine. But it wasn't until I first visited Sonoma County and experienced this Russian River Pinot that I developed a longing for reds. 2005 Rodney Strong Estate Pinot Noir
Although it lacks some of the sensual elements of the aforementioned wines, Rodney Strong's Estate Pinot is one of Russian River's best buys. Approachable with red fruit and rose petal aromas and flavors, it's the kind of wine that will please the whole crowd.
